So I left off with my Deck coming back to me via FedEx, and I have since picked it up and the only thing iffy with it is the R1 button is a bit mushy. It still works, and I wasn’t going to send it back for another period of time without it, so I am dealing with it.
It doesn’t even matter right now anyway because I find myself using it as more of a home console. It’s plugged into a dock, which is connected to my TV. I’ve always been a handheld person (my first video games were on a game boy pocket) so this is unusual for me but I’m really enjoying it and I’m starting to see what people see in playing games on the couch.
Granted the Deck itself is heavy enough that most of the joy in this new (to me) configuration is probably from using a lightweight steam controller instead of holding the heavy Steam Deck itself in my hands.
Oh one more thing: I reinstalled the 2TB SSD that my previous botched attempt led to this saga and – making sure to use a size 1 Phillips screwdriver – it worked without a problem!
