  • Let’s spend the winter making this a fitness blog.

So here’s the truth about me: I like to eat, but I don’t like to work out. Sounds like most Americans right? There’s lots of reasons so many of us Americans are morbidly obese, and in my situation it’s just a case of too much food not enough activity.

Granted, I do pride myself on working hard at my job, and I’ve always been able to power through the layers of fat to get work done. But between typically eating huge portions and not being active enough outside of work, I’ve reached a point where powering through is no longer possible for me.

So I’ve decided to quit my job and focus on my health. Im in a position where I was barely working anyway, due to personal family reasons i cut my hours down drastically in January. The reduced work activity may have accelerated my decline, but my entire life has been a story of me getting bigger, so maybe this acceleration is what I needed to finally do something.

Anyway, on to the plan: start slow. I want to start by walking a set route once a day at a normal pace for as long as I can, resting as needed, then walk back home. I plan to work my way up to longer distances and maybe a faster pace once I stop feeling like Im dying every time.

My doctor suggested weighing myself once a week, so I’ll update every Saturday with my weekly weigh-in. Since Im typing this on a Saturday night, I’ll start the weigh in with my current (and personal biggest) weight: 414 pounds. Yup. And yes, damn im huge. My personal wake up call was actually at 389 pounds, and I thought I was losing after that, so when I found out that was not the case, I realized I would need to work harder than I ever have in my life.

And so here we are, on the precipice of a journey. I’ll keep you updated on each step of the way. Be back soon!
